OWHA COVID-19 Update (Sept. 27, 2021)
Submitted By WGMHA on Tuesday, September 28, 2021
Dear Ravens,

We received the message below from OWHA last evening.

Attention OWHA Members,

On Monday, September 27, 2021, the OWHA met with Dr. Kieran Moore, Chief Medical Officer of Health for the Province of Ontario. Pursuant to this meeting, effective immediately, it is mandatory, as a condition of eligibility to participate in any OWHA-sanctioned activity, that everyone born in 2009 and earlier must be fully vaccinated (2 shots plus 14 days) as soon as possible and by no later than November 1, 2021.

This includes all players, staff and volunteers, including coaches, trainers and officials. The only exemption from this requirement is for two specific medical reasons. The full policy reflecting these rules will be posted shortly on OWHA’s website.

WGMHA’s priority is the health and safety of all our players, coaching staff and volunteers so we are continuing on our path to have all Ravens who are eligible to be vaccinated to be vaccinated by October 17, 2021. This is in compliance with the additional mandate – to have people fully vaccinated as soon as possible.  Later today we will be posting our updated Vaccination Program. The updated policy will include a recommended antigen testing regime, process for applying for medical exemptions and recommendations for enhanced mask usage.  WGMHA welcomes the additional mandate from our provincial sports organization. It will add an extra layer of assurance that all players, coaches and officials participating in female hockey will be fully vaccinated in the very near future.

Be Kind, Be Safe, Stay Healthy,

Sandra
