Persistence and Determination Pay Dividends in Fergus
With a number of girls missing from the lineup due to illness and injuries, the players put in a great effort to achieve a 3-1 win in Fergus on Saturday afternoon. Our forwards showed considerable resolve with only two lines and our solid defensive play continued. With improved pressure in the offensive zone and by working the puck to the front of the net, we created more scoring opportunities and hard work around the net resulted in the goals.

Juli scored two goals and assisted on the 3rd with her determined effort. Working hard all game, Maggie scored a nice goal being well positioned in front of the net. She also demonstrated some good work challenging the Grand River defence as they attempted to move the puck up the boards. Brigitte had some nice breakaways with some hard shots on net. Jocelyne adjusted well to playing centre, in particular she forced a number of turnovers in the 3rd period with some aggressive checking. Alice had a very good game in net stopping many shots and shutting down Grand River's big, speedy forwards breaking in alone. Only a wayward deflection off one of our own sticks as we were diligently trying to help in front of the net prevented us from adding to our league leading 4th shutout, which is a testament to our collective team defensive play and solid goaltending from Jocelyne and Alice.
