Jason Cripps Tournament Champions
We had a very good tournament and won some close games. After going undefeated with 4 wins in the round robin, we won Pool D. We advanced to the semifinal against Waterloo 1 and defeated them 2-1 in a tight game. We then played Waterloo 2 in the final game. It was a very close game that could have gone either way. It was 0-0 through regulation time. We survived a short handed situation with 1:23 left in the 3rd period and into the overtime. The overtime remained scoreless. So, it was on to the shootout. Annette, Sara and Jocelyne all scored and Alice stopped 2 of 3 shots for shootout victory.
Throughout the tournament, our defensive corps really played well. Our forwards really applied good pressure and forced the play in the offensive zone and did a good job of backchecking. It was fun to watch and exciting to see close competition among the evenly matched Waterloo teams. So, it was a nice end to a successful 1st half and exciting start to the 2nd half of the season.
