Ravens Fall to Grand River
The Rebel Ravens lost a tough one to the Grand River Mustangs on Sunday.
Despite a spirited effort from the girls on Sunday, they were unable to beat the determined squad from Fergus. An early goal by the opposition meant that the Ravens were playing catch-up for the entire game. The girls played with heart and looked as though they would be able to overcome the deficit, but never managed to put one in the net. It was hard to pick an outstanding player from the team for this game, as everyone worked hard on the ice, but there were a few outstanding plays to note: Jillian had a slick wraparound go right through the crease and out the other side; Victoria made a powerful end to end rush but her shot nicked off the outside of the post; Julia made a very clever slap pass to Ashlyn at the side of the net, only to have the puck dribble off her stick; and Maddy continues to use her speed to great effect and had a couple nice rushes, but just failed to pop one in. As mentioned, all the girls gave good efforts, and the coaching staff was pleased with everything but the final score.
The Ravens play again this week, and will need to get back in the habit of winning if they are to advance to the playoff round. Game time is 7pm at Moses Springer.
