Banatm BB Tryouts
My name is Mike Bonneville and I am the head coach of the Waterloo Ravens Bantam BB team this season.
Today is September 1st, which means the hockey season is right around the corner.
During the tryout sessions, our goal is to build the best team possible, which involves a mix of offensive and defensive players; aggressive back checkers and excellent play makers; fast skaters and grinders (those who work hard in the corners); and those who consistently perform in a steady and dependable way. Players will be evaluated on their work ethic and hockey skills. Coachability and team chemistry are also important components for success, so player behaviour and attitude will be factors in the selection process.
For me, the tryout process began last December when I decided to apply for this team. I have spent many hours at the rink watching both Peewee and Bantam games. As well, I believe it is important as a coach not to rely solely on a few one hour sessions to decide who is on this team. Therefore, selections will be made based on my observations and on evaluations during the on-ice skill sessions, inter-squad and exhibition games.
I look forward to seeing all of the players out on the ice this Thursday, September 6th at 8:00pm.
