U18AA are Bronze Champions at the Stoney Creek Showcase
From September 9 to 11, 2022, the Waterloo Ravens U18AA team played in the Vasko division of the Stoney Creek Showcase. The team demonstrated resiliency and tenacity as they overcame injuries to win the Bronze Championship game and finish the showcase with a 4-1-1 record!

On Friday the U18AA Ravens opened the Showcase with a 3 to 1 win over the Ottawa Lady 67s. Waterloo scored two in the first: The first from Jadis Howden (Sylvie Legault) and the second goal scored by Sara Forwell was unassisted. Claire Jacklin closed out the scoring in the third with an assist going to Rylan Weatherdon.

The Ravens met the Scarborough Sharks on Friday evening and came out with a 5-2 win. The U18AA Ravens came to play and scored four in the first. Sara Forwell (Rylan Weatherdon), Sara Forwell (Halle Murray), Sylvie Legault (Jadis Howden) and Rylan Weatherdon (Kiara Woods & Addison Uhrig). Addison Uhrig closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal in the third.

The Ravens suffered their only loss of the Showcase on Saturday morning against the Thunder Bay Queens. This 2-0 loss was followed by a 0-0 tie against Greater Vancouver. A good outcome considering the Ravens had to kill eleven penalties!

On Sunday morning the Ravens earned their spot in the Bronze Championship game by winning the semi-finals 2-1 in OT against a very strong North York team. North York scored early in the game and carried a 1-0 lead well into the third period when Claire Jacklin (unassisted) tied the game and forced overtime. Ella Pell (unassisted) scored the winning goal from the point at 2:36 of the overtime period! The winning goalie, Jamie Goodman, had an outstanding game in net for the Ravens!

The Ravens played the talented Rochester Youth Hockey club from Rochester, New York in the Bronze Championship game. Courtney Cuillerier (Claire Jacklin) at the 12:29 mark of the first period. Anushka Jawkar (Claire Jacklin) added to the lead at the 10:30 mark of the second. Claire Jacklin (Kiara Woods) tallied her first goal of the game at 13:06 of the third period and netted her second (Anushka Jawkar) in the empty net with 1:04 to go in the game. Meghan Stewart was outstanding in net and recorded the shut out!

The U18AA Ravens return to Stoney Creek on September 16th for the Stoney Creek University Showcase - Go Ravens Go!
