2019-20 Manual of Operations, Rules, Regulations Review
Submitted By WGMHA on Wednesday, April 10, 2019
Hello WGMHA Members

Thank you once again for great  season of hockey!

As part of the board’s normal operations in assessing our  hockey programs and in light of our evolving goals with our High Performance Training Program for AA/A hockey and changes to the Novice program, we will be conducting a review of  a number of our policies and procedures following the spring tryout season.

During the past season we have had numerous productive meetings with the OWHA and neighbouring associations about their rules and regulations at different divisions and levels of play - gaining valuable insights as to their experiences - positive and negative.

In the coming months we will be looking closely at policies regarding at least the following areas (among others)

  • The handling of departing players/families and the processes and pathway(s) in which the WGMHA may choose to support returning players/families
  • Tryout processes and timing
  • Coach discretion for ice time management at more senior levels of play
  • Timely and actionable feedback from our members and coaches about their experience and expectations
  • Adjustments to our Novice programs with the removal of traditional rep levels per recent Hockey Canada directions; similarly possible impacts to future Atom programs

As part of this process we encourage you share your comments, suggestions and insights.  Please reach out to [email protected] with your comments or suggestions for consideration by LMC and the Board.

Please note - any policy changes that may be adopted by the board will be applied to the 2019-20 season and beyond - including any situations occurring in player selection and movement prior to, or throughout, the season.

For those coming to Spring Try-outs, good luck and have fun.

Good luck to also to our HL Teams participating in the Waterloo Cup - have fun!

Have a wonderful summer.

Sandra Hanmer

President
