Hockey Development Coordinator - WMGHA Appointment
Submitted By Steven Woods on Tuesday, October 29, 2019
The Waterloo Girls Minor Hockey Association (WGMHA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura McIntosh in the newly created role of Hockey Development Coordinator for the WGMHA/Waterloo Ravens.

In this role, Laura will be responsible for providing both on and off-ice leadership and support to WGMHA Hockey in all areas of player development. While the role is focused primarily on representative hockey player development, and in particular advancing the goals of our High Performance Training Program, Laura will also work closely in advising all hockey training programs in partnership with the Directors of Coaching, Representative Hockey and House League Hockey.

In this new HDC role Laura will be a key leader in enabling the WGMHA to offer best-in-class competitive and recreational hockey programs that bring forward the widest possible funnel of athletes and coaches and focuses them in a common direction: improving player skill and greatly enhancing the consistency and overall hockey experience.  When combined with the WGMHA’s close partnership with the University of Waterloo and the UW Warrior coaches and players in advancing female athletic success, and with our PWHL KW Rangers team as inspiration, the WGMHA hopes to set a leadership position in advancing female hockey at all levels in our programs.  On behalf of the entire association we welcome Laura to her leadership role in the WGMHA!

Laura has dedicated her coaching career to  developing female hockey in the Waterloo Region and surrounding areas and has been very excited to see the growth of female hockey over the past decade and looks to set the standards even higher. Through Laura’s experiences she has developed a great understanding of what it takes to excel at some of the highest levels of women’s hockey. It is these experiences and her passion for the game and for helping others achieve their potential that enables her to teach both fundamental and advanced hockey skills. Laura is excited to share her knowledge of the game with the future generation of female hockey - and in this new capacity do so with the Waterloo Ravens programs.

Laura has had a spectacular playing career and exemplifies all that our association wishes to promote in high performance sport and academic accomplishment.
