Brianne Jenner - Virtual Training Sessions
Submitted By Chris Holdsworth on Friday, July 3, 2020
Canadian National Women's team member Brianne Jenner is offering virtual training sessions during the weeks of July 20-24 and August 10-14. Each session is offered Monday to Friday for 2 hours each day.

Workouts will include age appropriate off-ice exercises, a combination of aerobic/anaerobic conditioning, strength work with a focus on single-leg stability, skating mechanics and explosive power. This is followed by skills sessions on stick-handling, shooting mechanics, and other tips. Randi Milani, the Maple Leafs skating and mobility coach will also be contributing to our program, with sessions including hockey-specific yoga. Once again guest coaches including several of my Olympic/National levels teammates and others at the International level will share experiences and knowledge with campers. Our sessions also introduce players to understanding focus and mental performance, and in ways applicable to all ages. Sommer Christie, Hockey Canada Mental Performance Coach will be talking to the players about practical tools to develop mental skills and optimize performance. Players will also be treated to a presentation by Emily Fulton, dietitian and sports nutritionist.

The first portion of the session is a workout (45 min.). The next portion of the session, following a quick break is dedicated to skill development, largely focusing on stickhandling work as well as cognitive and skill-based coordination drills.  The last portion of the session (30min.) is our time for discussion, presentations (hockey chalk talk), or for our guest speaker. Players will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with guest speakers as well.

Presenters include:

Randi Milani will lead us through a Hockey Yoga session. Randi is a skating development coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs and provides these mobility and strength sessions for the Leafs. Randi is also a former Pro player and Div 1 NCAA Player.

Erin Ambrose is a defenseman for Team Canada and the 2019 CWHL Defensive Player of the Year. She will be leading the players through a stickhandling session.

Emily Fulton (Registered Dietitian and Sports Nutritionist, Hockey Canada Strength and Conditioning Coach, Former Pro Hockey and Div 1 NCAA Hockey Player) Will teach the players about how to fuel for athletic performance and overall health.

Sommer Christie is a Hockey Canada Mental Performance Coach. Sommer was also a member of the Canadian Women’s Rugby Team. She will be talking to the players about practical tools to develop your mental skills and optimize performance.

Blayre Turnbull assistant captain and centre for Team Canada. Olympic Silver Medalist, and Clarkson Cup Champion 2016, and 2019 will lead players through an off-ice workout focused on explosive power for skating.

Ryan Sommer Team Canada Bobsleigh brakeman, 2019 Gold Medal at Lake Placid World Cup Race, Bronze Medal at World Championships 2019, recipient of the 2019 Team of the Year Award (Canadian Sport Awards),

The program is fun, engaging, and full of great content. All players will have some great ‘take-aways’ each day, as well as challenging physical activity.
