USA-Canada Cup Tournament Coming Dec 3rd!
Submitted By Steven Woods on Wednesday, November 17, 2021
The Waterloo Ravens are proud to announce the upcoming 2021 USA-Canada Cup tournament schedule!   A highlight of our season, and running from December 3rd through 5th, 2021 version of this elite showcase tournament will see 78 teams play in front of scouts from the NCAA, USport, Hockey Canada and the OWHA.  Games will be played in arenas in Kitchener and Waterloo.

The U22AA Waterloo KW Rangers kick off their tournament vs Gloucester on Friday Dec 3rd at 730am - Sportsworld, Kitchener.  The U18AA Ravens start their campaign vs OHA Gold Friday Dec 3rd at 830am - RIM Park, Pillars.  The U15AA Ravens play their first game vs Gloucester at 830am at Albert McCormick Arena.

Series Concept

The vision behind the USA Canada Cup Series is to bring together the top Canadian and USA women's ice hockey teams in U15AA, U18AA and U22AA and have them play in a USA versus Canada type format. USA Canada Cup is a showcase series tournament that allows university scouts from both USport and NCAA schools to be able to see some top emerging and university-eligible hockey athletes go head to head in a weekend of high level competition.  Hockey Canada and OWHA scouts will also be in attendance. The tournaments are organized in a format that maximizes the number of USA vs Canada games and/or ensures teams don’t play teams they normally play in their league.

Showcase Focus

The USA Canada Cup's main focus is providing the elite female ice hockey players with a platform of exposure that will showcase their skills to college and university coaches. In our 13th year - we have seen well over 1,000 female hockey players get recruited to the NCAA and USports levels. Women’s hockey in Canada and the United States leads the world in ice hockey from the grassroots level to that of premier international tournaments.

Event Hosts

The Waterloo Girls Minor Hockey Association (WGMHA) and our participating Ravens teams U15AA, U18AA and our elite Waterloo K-W Rangers U22AA team are proud to host this event.  Waterloo has one of the most dynamic organizations in Ontario for women’s hockey - from early stage development and learn-to-skate programs to the top tiers of AA representative hockey in Canada from U11 to U18, and including OWHL “elite” U22AA team. Waterloo’s High Performance Training Program teams partner closely with the University of Waterloo Warriors and Hockey Canada to provide the top-tier hockey training available to its elite athletes in U15AA and U18AA.   We Are Waterloo!
