This past
weekend was the culmination of a great 2025-26 House League Season for the
Waterloo Ravens with the Waterloo Cup and KGLL Championship finals taking
place.
Before
diving into the weekend results, I first want to thank all the Ravens
volunteers who helped make this House League Season a successful one. To the coaches, trainers, room helpers, on
ice staff and many more roles that support the teams, thank you! It would not happen without your
support.
The
Tradition of the Waterloo Cup continued Friday and Saturday with matchups
across the U7 to U18 divisions. Games
were tightly contested and laughs were shared, smiles seen and the Ravens
community came together to support this wonderful group of young ladies.
A HUGE
thank you to Melinda and Ryan for ensuring the weekend went off without a
hitch. A special thanks to board members
Nadia and Melanie as well as Executive Director Scott and members of our U13 B
team for helping hand out medals to the players and graduation banners for our
graduating U18 players.
I also want
to thank the U13 Twin Centre Hericanes who came out to participate in the
weekend and make it a fun competitive game for our Ravens. Unfortunately, the Hericanes goalie could not
make it but in a true sign of Ravens sportsmanship, our U13 goalies took turns
playing for each team…and somehow ended up in both team lines for medals!
To our
graduating U18 players, thank you for being Ravens over the years and we hope
you continue to embrace and love this game that brings us all together.
After
kicking off Saturday morning with a fun U7 game of celebration, we got into the
competition with the U9’s going all the way to a shootout and the rest of the
games continuing that competitive and fun feel! Congratulations to this year’s
winners of the Waterloo Cup in each of our age groups U9-1, U11-2, U15-2,
U18-1.
In the KGLL
League Championships congratulations to our Three teams who made the finals,
coming home with Silver Medals: U11-1, U13-1 and U18-1.
With a
successful House League season coming to an end, I want to wish all Ravens and
their families a safe, fun and relaxing summer and we will see you back at the
rink in September!
