2019-20 Rep Coach Selection Underway
Submitted By WGMHA on Monday, November 5, 2018
Head Coach selection for the 2019-20 season is now underway for teams with spring tryouts.

This year there will be three stages to recruitment:
Spring tryout teams - Head Coach selection will commence immediately with coach selections announced as quickly as practicable - with a goal of completion in early December;
All other rep head coaches (April/May);
HL coaches (June-September)

At this time, the Waterloo Ravens are looking for dynamic, experienced head hockey coaches to serve as volunteer Head Coaches for our teams currently expected to run spring tryouts for the 2019-20 Season:

Midget AA, Midget A, Midget BB, Bantam AA, Bantam A, Peewee AA, Peewee A and Atom AA

Applications for all other Rep Head Coach positions will be accepted only when a subsequent announcement is made in early 2019.

The successful candidates will necessarily have and demonstrate:

  • The ability to effectively motivate, instruct and lead players;
  • Strong organizational skills to efficiently run practices and other team development activities;
  • An exemplary ability to communicate effectively with players, parents, coaching staff and members of the WGMHA Executive;
  • Speak Out or Respect in Sport Certification;
  • NCCP Development Certification Appropriate to Level of application (or an acceptable plan in place to complete the appropriate certification level prior to the start of the season). For additional details see the OWHA website.
  •       Midget AA, Bantam AA - NCCP High Performance 1 Certified
  •       Peewee AA, Bantam A, Midget A, Midget BB - NCCP Development 1 Certified
  •       Peewee A, Atom AA - NCCP Development 1 Trained (Certified preferred)
  • A minimum of 3 years progressive coaching experience at either the Tier 1 or 2 Level

This year we will be selecting the spring tryout coaches as indicated before the end of 2018.  Those individuals awarded a team must also submit a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Report prior to spring tryouts. Spring tryouts will commence the Tuesday following April Provincials, as permitted by OWHA rules.  All other tryouts will begin the Tuesday after Labour Day unless otherwise announced.  Final levelling for all WGMHA teams for LLFHL and OWHA play is expected as advertised, but will ultimately be determined by the Ravens in consultation with each team’s head coaches.

For more details including required documentation, timelines and expectations please read 2019-20 Coaching Selection Information for Spring Tryout Teams

Please submit your complete application for the 2019-20 Rep Head Coach positions no later than 6:00 pm on Friday, November 16, 2018 to:
