On Saturday, February 1st, the U13 DS team had the unique opportunity to be bench buddies to the Toronto Sceptres during their pre-game warm-up.

Michael Phelps was made for swimming. Shaq was made for basketball. Our captain this week, Reese L., was made for speed on the ice! It’s always fascinating to watch a player with pure, seemingly effortless speed. As Reese continues to develop her stickhandling and shot, she’s going to become the ultimate “now you see her, now you don’t” player—blowing past defenders and making goalies beg for mercy! Our captain this week is in her third season of hockey, and her love for the game is evident. You don’t develop a high, hard shot without putting in extra practice at home!  Kendall D works hard both on and off the ice, and it’s paying off. One thing I always tell the girls is, “If you’re not coming off your shift tired, you probably could have worked harder.” Kendall takes this to heart—she comes off the ice red-faced after every shift! ...

She's quiet and reserved, but that only lulls you into not worrying about her on the ice — big mistake! This week, we have Kai F. as our team captain! She moves stealthily in front of the net, undetected, her presence only announced when the puck comes her way, and she hammers it home! In her pre-game speech, Kai made sure to pump up her teammates, letting them know what a great job they were doing and cheering them on to work their hardest. Nothing but class from this player!
