Like last week, our captain this week is playing minor hockey for the first time. Evelyne D has an incredible story for someone so new to the game. In her very first game, Evelyne scored a goal late in the third period to tie the game! The puck bounced out to her in the slot, and with everything she had, she swung and buried it in the back of the net. The team erupted with excitement for Evelyn's big moment! The girls have returned home from Fergus as tournament champions!  At times it seemed that they were facing brick walls instead of goalies, but persistence and hard work paid off in the end - they played their finest hockey in the championship game and were rewarded with the win! Congraulations to each and every girl - it's a lot of fun being able to watch you give everything you've got shift after shift! -Coach James

This week’s captain is our rock-solid defender, Lauren K! Lauren brings incredible energy to the team and always keeps everyone hyped up. Whenever I ask the players what it means to play aggressively, Lauren’s hand shoots up so fast it could practically pop her shoulder out! Lauren delivered a fantastic and unexpected team talk. Instead of discussing in-game strategies, she introduced a new warm-up drill she wanted the defense to try before puck drop. Her idea was to get her fellow defenders skating forward and backward while passing the puck to each other—it worked out brilliantly! ...

She can play defense, she can play forward, and she might even be able to play goalie if needed—our captain this week is Lexi H! In her pre-game talk, Lexi spoke about the importance of battling hard in the defensive zone, making sure the opposing team can't get close to our goalie without a Raven there to aggressively greet them. The girls worked really hard this past weekend, continuing to support each other both on the ice and on the bench. Great work! - Coach James
