Fall Challenge Cup Gold Medalists
The Fall Challenge Cup was a terrific tournament for the Waterloo Ravens Peewee BB team. Before the first game Thursday night, the girls as a team set the goal of winning gold. We talked about what the team needed to do to get to this goal and every one of the girls committed to doing what it would take to become champions.
The first 2 games started slow and we fell behind both games by 2-0 scores. Instead of getting down, the team stormed back with a great effort to take these games. The third game we set a target of starting strong and scoring first with the result being a 6-0 lead by the end of the first period. While the fourth game was not our strongest against Niagara, the girls did what they had to in order to win and make it to the gold medal game. The game against Wilmot was a hard fought battle and both teams played strong games. The girls were determined to reach their goal for the tournament and even after losing the lead with less than 30 seconds left in the third period, they never lost their focus. This team wanted the win and worked extremely hard with the result being a well deserved gold medal. The coaching staff is very proud of this team and the girls should be very proud of themselves. They went through the entire tournament without a tie or loss, and easily outshot their opponents in every game. Congratulations and way to go Ravens!!!
