This program begins October 15th and is intended to introduce young players to the game of hockey. The Sunday sessions are 55 minutes in length and will begin with players learning the basic skills needed to play the game. Each week new elements will be introduced as well as reinforcing past skills learned.
Players must be dressed in full hockey equipment.
Required Equipment includes:
CSA approved helmet
Neck guard
Chest protector/Shoulder pads
Elbow pads
Hockey gloves
Jill
Hockey pants
Shin guards
Skates
Stick
Mouth Guard (optional but recommended)
***Hockey Socks are provided to keep – Jerseys are lent out for the session, they are returned after each session.
Please note: This is NOT a "learn to skate" program. It is highly recommended that your daughter has had previous skating lessons.
Other Items of Note:
*If you are confused about how any equipment goes on, just ask, someone will be willing to help you out.
*Please bring a water bottle for your daughter – one that she can sip from (long nozzle) or squirt through her facemask on her helmet (so coaches & volunteers aren’t buckling and unbuckling helmets all session. It should be clearly marked with your daughter’s name for her to find.
*As a help for instructors, please write your daughter's name on some tape on her helmet. Addressing the girls by name really improves their experience.
*Make sure your daughter’s skates are sharpened and ready to go for the first session.
*Non-participants will not be allowed on the ice without being a registered volunteer. This requirement is due to safety and insurance concerns. To be on the ice, you must be wearing skates and a helmet.
Volunteers:
VOLUNTEER instructors are an integral part of this program. Current Ravens players are encouraged to volunteer!
