U13 2 #1121, House (Waterloo Ravens Girls Hockey Association )

Congratulations to the girls - they put together some excellent hockey this weekend to win the Waterloo Cup in OT on Saturday, and the League Championship in a tight 1-0 game.  As we spoke about after the game today, a season is filled with ups and downs.  It's always nice to end on an up, but I'm paritcularily proud of how the girls supported each other throughout, it brought out the best in everyone.  On behalf of the 2024/2025 Ravens U13-2 coaching staff, thank you to the parents, and best wishes to all the girls! -Coach James

Could it be possible that every Waterloo Cup final match, U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, and U18 went to overtime? YES! In what may be the most incredible Waterloo Cup matches ever, every final went to overtime. It began Saturday morning when U7-1 vs U7-2, which play non-competitive half-ice, played 10 minutes of overtime for fun to finish off the season. It seemed to foreshadow the rest of the games...

This season has been an incredible journey, and one of the highlights has been hearing 16 pre-game speeches—one from each of our girls. I couldn’t be prouder of them for stepping up in front of their teammates to share advice, encouragement, and energy. For some, this was completely outside their comfort zone, and I hope it helped build their confidence even further. ...

You might think I’m breaking a cardinal rule—why would you ever make your goalie the last team captain? This season, we’ve been selecting captains by age cohort, starting with our 2012 players, followed by our 2013 group. But this week’s captain, Avery B., isn’t part of either. She’s a U11 player stepping up to compete with our U13 team! She may be younger than everyone on the ice, but you’d never know it from the way she plays. My only concern now? We might lose her to rep hockey next season!...
