Commitment and Expectations
Participation in Rep hockey requires commitment, dedication and sacrifice on the part of coaches, players and families. There may be in excess of 4 ice times per week including games, tournaments, dryland sessions, skills sessions (with U of W varsity hockey teams) and practices.
Please let the coach know as soon as possible if you are not prepared as a player to make the commitment, or as a parent to have your daughter play at this level. If you are only at try-outs to get skating time please let us know. Any player not intending to play for the team will be asked not to return after the second tryout.
Try-Outs
Ø Process
During the tryout sessions, players will be evaluated on work ethic, hockey sense and individual skills. We are looking for players with a strong work commitment, a solid skill base with a focus on puck patience, and who put the team first. Since this is the Atom level of hockey, an ability to listen to the coaches and learn the game while maintaining a positive attitude is important as well.

Ø Releases
After the second tryout, we will be posting jersey numbers on the Ravens website of the players invited to return for the next try-out. The jersey number assigned at the first try-out will be the number posted. If you wish to speak with me after your daughter has been released, I will be happy to speak with you 24 hours after the release.
We ask parents to be mindful and respectful of the task that the coaching staff faces in selecting the final team.
Ø Reminders
· Please arrive 45 minutes prior to all ice times in order to register and prepare for the icetime
· Players are to be dressed, ready to go on the ice 10 minutes before the scheduled ice time.
· Parents are asked not to stay in the area of the dressing room when at the rink, there will be plenty of help for players to get into their equipment and tie their skates
· Try-out jerseys are to be returned at the end of each try-out
· Please inform the head coach if your daughter is unable to attend a tryout or is withdrawing from the tryout process.
Regular Season
The Waterloo Ravens are members of the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League. The tentative loop for this team will be communicated to you as soon as it’s finalized. The game schedule will be available in late September.
Tournaments
Tournaments will be chosen during the summer months and communicated to team members at that time.
We will be attending 4 tournaments, including the Ravens tournament.
We hope to qualify for the following Tournaments:
LLFHL Championship Tournament Late March 2020
Provincial Championship Tournament Early April 2020
Team Fees
Successful players are responsible for paying the following: Ravens General Registration Fees, Rep Fees and Team Fees. The Registration and Rep fees are set by the WGMHA and together will be in the $1200 range. We expect the Team Fees to be approximately $700 per player. The full team budget will be reviewed at the Parent/Player meeting the week after try-outs. We also plan to do some fundraising during the year to offset some of the cost.
Parent/Player Meeting
Our first 2019-20 Parent/Player meeting will be held during the week following the tryout process. Date and Time still TBD. It is imperative that at least one parent attend the meeting with your daughter. We will be approving the team budget, reviewing the plans for the 2019-20 season and filling important volunteer roles for our team.
Best of luck to everyone in the try-out process!
Thank you for participating.
