Ravens Earn First League Point then Victory
The Novice A Ravens earned 3 out of a possible 4 points this weekend.

On Saturday, the Ravens traveled to Pickering to face the Durham West Lightning.  This was a see-saw affair that saw both teams fight back from being down.  The Lightning opened the scoring in the first period and lead 1-0 after the end of the first.  The Ravens were able to tie the game up in the second period on a goal mouth scramble that Emma K was able to poke in for her first goal of the season.  The game was tied 1-1 after two periods.  In the third, the Ravens took the lead when Allie S went hard to the net and was able to find the back of the net when she poked in the rebound from Ava M's shot.  Unfortunately, the Lightning were up to the challenge and tied the game up 12 seconds later.  Then the Lightning took the lead with 2:08 left in the game.  On the ensuing face-off, Ava M won the face off and took the puck to the Lightning's zone and was able to take a hard shot from the left face off dot which found the net to earn the Ravens a hard fought tie.

On Sunday, the Ravens were back at home in the friendly confines of RIM park to face the Burlington Barracudas.  The Barracudas were out for revenge from a 5-0 loss in the Oakville Harvest tournament.  The Ravens came out on fire and dominated play in the first period and their efforts were rewarded when Hailey T was able to keep the puck in at the blue line and fire the puck towards the net.  Ava M was able to grab the pass and scored to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead.  Burlington fought hard in the second period and returned the favour by dominating play for most of the period.  They were able to tie the game up mid way through the second and the period ended 1-1.  The Ravens were able to find their form in the third period and early in the period Ava M was able to pot her second goal from a nice feed from Kayla S.  The Ravens played very well defensively for the remainder of the game.  Behind some solid goaltending by Shea H and a very nice defensive play from Grace R with a minute left in the game, the Ravens held on for a 2-1 victory to earn their first league win!  Congratulations to the girls.
