It always seems like winter inside the Columbia Icefield. We were able to secure a 1-0 victory for our 4th win of the season. Abby scored her first goal of the season with a good effort to get a rebound in the net. With her hard shot and quick release, she definitely should get a number of goals this season. Although, this goal was the result of winning the battle for the puck. 

In a game between two well matched teams, the outcome could have been a win for either side or easily a tie game. Jessica made some key saves to keep the game scoreless during the first two periods, which definitely could have resulted in a momentum shift and a different ending to the game.

A tight game on scoreboard, which was tied well into the 3rd period, ended up with us prevailing with the win in this physical game. When we aggressively put pressure on the puck, we were successful. Goals by Annette and Amanda were generated by turnovers forced by effective checking by Caitlyn and Leeda, respectively. When we were passive or disorganized, things did not go as well. After what seemed like an extended preseason, it was nice to play our first game. We had good pressure on the puck for most of the game. We definitely saw some good passing and overall puck movement. Our defence played very solidly - Mary demonstrated very good puck control; Sarah did a strong job of keeping the puck in the offensive zone at the blue line. Caitlyn and Annette showed some good offensive synergy, which resulted in a goal and some good scoring chances. Madelyn put in a good effort in her hockey debut.
