What next with no LLFHL Novice Division?
Submitted By Ryan Terpstra on Thursday, September 5, 2019
I was hoping for a competitive Novice team. What now?

Official Announcement from LLFHL: "The LLFHL will NOT be having a Novice Rep program this season.  Novice will be overseen by the OWHA."

The Waterloo Ravens were prepared for this announcement. It does not come as a surprise. We are looking into the possibility of having a "Select" Novice Half-ice team which will also play in the KGLL alongside the other Novice Age 7 / Age 8 teams formed. The formation of the teams will occur during the month of October.

This 'select' team, if formed would:
- Practice in the same posted time slots as the other Novice teams formed. No change to the posted schedule.
- Be able to seek out additional ice time for practices as determined by the parents and coaching staff.
- Still be required to follow all Novice Programming guidelines, such as no set goalie, no positional play etc.

The idea behind a select team is to group similarly skills players together to aid in development by playing similarly skilled competition. It is not to form a team to win. There are still no scores. No tournaments. No playoffs etc.

Watch this Novice Program page for future updates.
