Hockey Canada, as a result of COVID-19 and in support of player and participant safety, has cancelled all Hockey Canada sanctioned activities until further notice, effective Friday, March 13, 2020. This means that ALL Ravens practices, games, try-outs, dry-land and team activities are cancelled until further notice. Tournaments, playoffs, play downs, Championship Weekend, Provincials and the Waterloo Cup are also cancelled.

    WGMHA is the proud recipient of the 2019 UW President’s Community Impact Award

    The Waterloo Girls Minor Hockey Association (the Ravens) has partnered with Warrior hockey programs for the past eight years.  Initially sparked by a connection when a Pee Wee team invited varsity athletes to assist with on-ice skill development, the positive experience led to a strong, long-term partnership involving 16 teams and a number of specialty programs for girls as young as four years old.

Waterloo Ravens Rookie Ravens Program 2019-2020


Welcome to the 2019-2020 Rookie Ravens Program

Open to ages 4-7 who are Beginner to Average and above Skaters. You can get around the ice without a skating aid or someone assisting you. If you have already taken the Ravens Learn to Skate program, this is the next step.

This program includes 15 non-consecutive weeks of training led by University of Waterloo Men's & Ladies' Hockey Team members along with a collection of interested, enthusiastic volunteers to provide a welcoming instructional environment for girls wanting to learn to play hockey.

 

Dates & Times - Sundays at 4p-5p @ Rim Park Pillers Arena



Sunday October 20th

Sunday November 10th & 24th

Sunday December 1st, 8th* & 22nd

Sunday January 5th, 19th & 26th

Sunday February 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd

Sunday March 1st & 8th

*Please note Sunday December 8th will be Photo Day. Professional photos will be taken at the rear of Rim Pillers. 
Parents may purchase photo packages at their discretion. Display of packages will be available on day of photos. Bring cash or cheque for your selection.


Please note hockey equipment is NOT included with the Rookie Ravens program.


You will require the following equipment to participate in Rookie Ravens.

Hockey Socks
Hockey Jill
Hockey Pants
Hockey Shoulder Pads/Chest Protector
Hockey Neck Guard
Hockey Helmet
Hockey Stick
Hockey S

There are basic sets available at local sports stores and retailers or you may purchase individual new or used gear to suit your child's size and needs.

Rookie Ravens hockey jerseys are loaned out to players each week and returned at the end of each week's session.

Volunteers

This program requires enthusiastic volunteers to operate at optimal benefit to all players. Experienced skaters, moms/dads/grandparents/cousins etc. are encouraged to help out. You must be on skates to participate and are required to wear a helmet.
