Kyla Kowalik Tournament Champions
Another strong team effort resulted in another tournament win. We continued to develop our effective passing in this tournament. In the final game, we were back to our high level of aggressively forcing the play in the offensive zone and sustaining pressure by keeping the puck in at the blue line. Our team defensive effort resulted in only 1 goal allowed in the tournament, but even that goal might have been disallowed.

In the first game, Alice played well until the rest of the team got going. We ended up with 8 different goal scorers. The slickest goal was the one timer by Maggie on a nice feed from the corner by Juli. (Nice to see something we worked on in practice happen in a game) It was just one of a number of nice passes by Juli in the tournament to go along with 5 other points. Another highlight of that game was Jenna going coast to coast. Overcoming a slow start in the morning, we came from behind to win 2-1 with Sara notching the game winner.

Emily S did a great job keeping the puck in at the blueline and shooting around opposing players. Beth was very effective at preventing our opponents from developing any organized rushes by checking aggressively in the neutral zone. Jocelyne continued to demonstrate her strong 2-way play.

Brooke has had another strong tournament with very determined effort battling for the puck and chasing down loose pucks. Annette showed off her offensive prowess in the final game scoring high against the Wilmot goalie. In the final, Emily M did some very good work winning the puck battles in the corner and getting the puck out front. Sarah was sharp in challenging the players in the corner forcing them to make a play. Zoe skated hard and was in good position in the final game.

It was a good tournament for the team and everyone contributed to the overall success.
